Dark Alliance By Gary Webb And His Apparent Suicide

Gary Webb’s life ended prematurely, and his career was permanently over. It happened on December 10, 2004. Pulitzer Prize-winning American investigative journalist Gary Webb died from multiple gunshot wounds. Webb is well-known for “Dark Alliance”, a brutal expose of the Government’s motives to disinformation the “crack drug” epidemic. The epidemic spread to a majority American cities, mainly in southern California’s African-American communities.

Webb was discredit by many major media outlets, including The New York Times and Los Angeles Times. Cocaine is a crack derivative and is extremely addictive. Once cocaine is no longer free-based, it becomes crack. Freebasing a drug is simply the act of removing foreign adulterants and reducing the substance to its purest form. This process produces a rock that can last up to 30 minutes. Crack changes the brain’s chemical balance, causing returning users to increase their dose to get the same high. Use of crack for long periods of time can cause severe side effects like tooth decay and damage to blood vessels. In addition, it can make it more difficult to get the same high again. Webb also presented evidence that the proceeds from crack sales in America were used to support the Nicaraguan guerrilla Army, Fuerza Democratica Nicaraguense. The “Nicaraguan democratic force” (or FDN, for short) was an original small group of expatriates with one common denominator – a distaste for the government. These groups are sometimes called Contra killers. They were created by the CIA to overthrow Nicaragua’s socialist Government. FDN, known for their brutality and terrorist-like tactics were well-known. They logged more than 13000 terrorist acts in their time. FDN are now gone and no one thinks about the many sins that were committed. Some communities weren’t able fully to recover from these ripples of time.

California’s poorest regions felt the worst effects. Not only did the Government turn its back to African-Americans, but it also devised a terrible strategy to stop minorities from making progress in society. Nearly every person involved in court cases regarding drug trafficking was of black descent and almost all were convicted. Many black men are in absurd prison for decades-old errors. It would have been impossible to make the same mistakes if it wasn’t for the CIA, which uses barbaric and cruel methods to oppress a significant portion of the population. Los Angeles is home to hundreds of homeless people. One reason they do this is because they are addicted to drugs. Before South-Central’s inexorable rise, crack was virtually unheard-of. Black people can’t be held responsible for the drug. It promised the high of your life and dirt-cheap prices.

Webb died from depression after losing his job and writing passion. His body was found with several gunshot wounds to his head. It is truly puzzling. Webb’s findings were discredit by the mass media, which attempted to undermine his journalism work. While his reputation as writer was destroyed, Webb’s book shed much-needed light on drugs. It also shows how the world really is.
